Job Salary

£25,000 up to 10% pension contribution and 30 days annual leave

Job Description

This is an apprenticeship role within the Communications Team, supporting marketing, PR, and operational activities. The successful candidate will develop professional skills through accredited training, workplace supervision, and commercial experience.
In addition to core communications responsibilities, the apprentice will contribute to cross-team projects and support Be First departments, including:
• Resident Engagement and Social Value
• Planning and Design Consultancy
• Statutory Services
• Transport and Sustainability
• Development and Asset Management
The apprentice is expected to uphold Be First’s values, maintain professional standards, and contribute to strengthening the company’s reputation.
As an apprentice role, you will also be attending accrediting training and released (estimated 1 day per week) to undertake this at an accredited apprenticeship provider.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Research & Monitoring
• Conduct research and draft briefing papers, updates, and reports.
• Monitor media coverage across planning, regeneration, and property sectors.
• Track social media engagement and identify opportunities for interaction.

Internal Communications
• Contribute to intranet content, staff communications, and policy updates.
• Support internal engagement activities, including staff events and meetings.
• Maintain staff resource areas, awards, and media references.
• Assist with quarterly staff conferences and collaborative projects with LBBD.

External Communications & Marketing
• Support press office functions and liaise with key external stakeholders (LBBD, GLA, LGA, MHCLG).
• Maintain and segment stakeholder relationship databases.
• Assist with borough-wide marketing and place branding campaigns.

Digital Platforms
• Draft, edit, and publish website and social media content.
• Create and curate blog and news content from colleagues.
• Monitor analytics, reporting on engagement and reach.
• Support HR with recruitment communications via the website.

Event Management
• Support delivery of staff conferences (x4 annually).
• Assist in producing external-facing events such as seminars, roundtables, and conferences.
• Provide logistical and administrative support to colleagues attending external events.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
• 5 GCSEs (including English and Maths) or equivalent.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good organisational and time-management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Interest in communications, marketing, PR, or regeneration.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• Willingness to learn and undertake accredited apprenticeship training.
