Job Summary

To provide comprehensive administrative support to the Building Control Service, ensuring the accurate processing of applications, maintenance of statutory records and effective customer service.
The postholder will support the delivery of a high-quality, customer-focused and compliant building control service, ensuring statutory obligations are met and records are maintained in accordance with legislative and organisational requirements.

Job Salary

£32,000 to £38,120 up to 10% pension contribution and 30 days annual leave

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

• Process Building Control applications and RBCA notices, including the maintenance and updating of databases and records, including document management systems
• Assist with the validation of applications and checking submitted documentation
• Act as a first point of contact for customers, respond to telephone, email and face-to-face enquiries in a timely manner
• Assist with invoicing, fee processing, and financial tracking where required
• Support responses to land charges, conveyancing, FOI and EIR requests where required.
• Assist with audit preparation, evidence gathering and monitoring of compliance deadlines.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

General Duties:

• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the service.
• Undertake training and development to maintain competence.
• Support service improvement projects.
• Undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade of the post.

Person Specification

Person Specification:

Essential
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and SharePoint.
High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
Excellent organisational with the ability to work independently and within the team.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle enquiries professionally and take initiative when appropriate.

Desirable
Understanding of the Building Safety Act 2022, Building Act 1984, the Building Regulations 2010 and other associated legislation.
Administrative experience in a regulatory or local government environment.
Experience with financial administration, including invoicing, purchase orders, and income reconciliation.
Experience in managing or supporting a document control system and maintaining administrative records to a high standard.
