THE ROLE
We are seeking to appoint a Street Naming and Numbering Officer who can demonstrate outstanding organisation, is solutions led and has excellent customer service skills. You will carry out the day to day administration of all SNN processes / applications in accordance with all statutory requirements, including the collection of information on-site and consultation with statutory bodies and other interested parties (Royal Mail, developers etc.)

£28,000 - £36,000 (Grade 7)

Job description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Key responsibilities in addition to the above will be (but are not limited to):
– To maintain and administer the Land & Property Gazetteer’s on behalf of the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham, ensuring that address data is maintained to a high standard of accuracy and regular updates are submitted to the National Land & Property Gazetteer as required.
– To be responsible for the street naming and numbering process and take all reasonable steps to enable the council’s address databases to be kept up to date, in line with the LLPG.
– To be responsible for the timely uploading of information to the National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG).
– To co-ordinate work as necessary on improving historical data, matching historical addresses to current Unique Property Reference Number (UPRN) data
– Liaising with statutory and public authorities.
– Compiling reports and maintaining working records and files to exemplary standards
– To undertake any other duties as required, consistent with the basic objectives and responsibilities of the post. To provide technical and procedural advice and problem-solving to the public on site, in meetings, by phone or correspondence in circumstances that can be confrontational and would require an immediate response.

Person specification

KEY SKILLS and OUTCOMES
Ideally, we are looking for an individual who:
– Has experience of using National Street Gazetteer and GeoPlace software
– Experience of interpreting and applying rules and procedures in the discharge of duties with a meticulous attention to detail and analytical aptitude
– Able to work under pressure, organise and prioritise own work and that of others, ensuring agreed programmes and project requirements are met and customer demands accommodated
– Contributes to a results-orientated, customer-focused working culture that embraces a ‘right first time’ approach.
– Is a motivated, self-starter with a willingness to learn.
– Has a keen attention to detail whilst being flexible and solutions driven.
– Is a team player who works effectively with others.
– Has good IT skills.
